As a youth baseball parent, we have noticed many leagues are looking for a shade solution for the paren’ts seating areas. We set out to find a solution to the issue of providing shade without building a permanent stucture. Many ball fields are located on properties or areas where fixed structure require a length permit process, are prohibited, or they are simply in an area where a permanent shade option is not feasible.
Our Solution
We set out to create a design that can be easily set up for the season and be easily removed without any heavy construction. Our system is designed with 55-gallon drums that can be filled with water and weighted bags with integrated posts to support a fabric shade sail. The barrel creates an above ground footing to support the tension of a shade sail. Shade sails require adequate tension to keep the sail from sagging with prolonged exposure to the elements. The barrels include a spicket to drain the water-filled barrel and a removable lid to remove the weighted bags inside. At the end of each season, the system can be removed with little to no damage to the environment. The barrels are moveable. As the shade sail stretches, they can be moved to accommodate the stretching of the fabric and keep the sail taut. The shade sail is made from SOLAMESH fabric. SOLAMESH fabric is also backed by a 10-year warranty allowing the shade sail to be used over many seasons. SOLAMESH comes in a wariety of colors to choose from.
Rent or Own?
We offer two options to our clients. Any client can purchase our system to keep and setup each season. The set up is very simple. Place the barrels, rig the shade sail to the barrels, move the carrels into position, add the weights and water, and the system is ready to enjoy.
We also offer our services to rent the system. Clients and leagues often do not have the space to store the system, or do not want to deal with the installation of our system. We offer our clients the option of renting our system for a season. This includes the installation and removal of the system by our experienced employees.
